Hosted at Tanzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center in Foshan, the exhibition spanned an area of 50,000 square meters with over 800 exhibitors and approximately 50,000 professional visitors. Co-organized by plastics industry associations from multiple regions, it serves as a business and exchange platform covering the entire rubber and plastics industrial chain in South China.

I. Core Exhibition Highlights

  1. The exhibits run through the whole industrial chain, featuring calcium carbonate/talcum powder filler masterbatches, special filler masterbatches for biodegradable materials, various functional modified masterbatches, ultrafine inorganic fillers, additives and modified plastics. Supporting exhibits include granulating equipment, powder modification machinery, recycling and environmental protection treatment facilities, moulds, as well as packaging and printing accessories. Enterprises from calcium carbonate industrial clusters such as Hezhou in Guangxi participated as a group, mainly promoting highly dispersible, high-loading filler masterbatches for film blowing and injection moulding, and filler masterbatches compatible with PBAT/PLA biodegradable systems.
  2. Two core themes guided the technical showcases: first, quality improvement and cost reduction for general filler masterbatches, featuring 35–45% high-loading formulations, solvent-free coupling modification and low-VOC food-contact grade solutions. Second, green biodegradable materials, where biodegradable filler masterbatches emerged as a major highlight for eco-friendly lunch boxes, non-woven bags and packaging films. Technical upgrading solutions including compatible modification of recycled materials, digital production management, dust and VOC abatement were also on display.
  3. Supporting technical forums focused on high-filling modification of calcium carbonate, processing technologies for biodegradable masterbatches, energy consumption control, new chemical substance registration, carbon footprint accounting and updated environmental emission regulations. Targeted at formulation engineers and plant managers, the forums interpreted the latest policies and processing routes.
  4. Business matchmaking connected upstream powder mines and masterbatch granulators directly with film blowing, injection moulding and packaging product manufacturers in the Greater Bay Area, facilitating sample testing, long-term supply agreements and equipment renovation negotiations.

II. Impacts on the Filler Masterbatch Industry

  1. Market and Supply-Demand Dynamics
(1)Stimulate the core consumer market in South China: Guangxi accounts for nearly 20% of China’s plastic product output, and the Greater Bay Area hosts more than 50,000 rubber and plastics enterprises. The exhibition helps masterbatch manufacturers from raw material bases such as Guangxi access downstream markets in South China and secure custom orders.
(2)Diversified product demand: Downstream buyers prefer mid-to-high-end masterbatches with high dispersibility, high filling capacity, low VOC and food-contact compliance. Homogeneous competition among low-grade conventional filler masterbatches intensifies, squeezing profit margins.
(3)Rising order prospects for biodegradable filler masterbatches. Downstream product makers are conducting batch tests on calcium-based filler masterbatches compatible with PBAT/PLA, forming a new growth track.
  2. Technology and Industrial Upgrading
(1)A unified platform for industrial technical exchange accelerates the commercialisation of new technologies including solvent-free coupling, composite powder filling and custom biodegradable formulations, driving formulation optimisation among masterbatch producers.
(2)Pressuring small and medium factories to upgrade technologies: Forums clarified regulations on VOC and particulate emissions, energy consumption, new substance registration and carbon accounting. Small enterprises with substandard environmental performance and outdated processes face growing competitive disadvantages, accelerating industrial consolidation.
(3)Deeper upstream-downstream collaboration: The integrated model of “limestone powder — modified calcium carbonate — filler masterbatch — plastic products” gains wider recognition, highlighting the cost and quality advantages of integrated manufacturers.
  3. Long-Term Trends
(1)Green low-carbon development, compliance and customisation will become core competitiveness for filler masterbatch producers, leaving diminishing room for price-only extensive competition.
(2)Filler masterbatches formulated for recycled plastics and functional composite masterbatches will achieve faster market growth than traditional general calcium masterbatches.
(3)Intelligent solutions such as digital process control, on-line quality inspection and AI formulation optimisation are gradually being adopted by mid-sized manufacturers after initial application by industry leaders.
