Field testing and inspection on the retroreflectivity of road marking coatings shall be carried out in light of the characteristics of traffic conditions at highway interchanges in Hezhou City, Guangxi. Highway intersections feature heavy vehicle and pedestrian flow, with frequent vehicle starts, stops and turns. Affected by local climatic conditions including rainfall, frequent fog and large temperature differences between day and night, road markings are prone to abrasion, reduced retroreflectivity and degraded visibility, which directly endanger road traffic safety and hinder traffic management efficiency.
The test adopts on-site measurement to accurately determine the retroreflectivity of road marking coatings at local highway interchanges and obtain authentic and reliable field inspection data. Based on massive measured data, this work systematically evaluates the retroreflective performance, durability and operational stability of marking coatings under complex real traffic conditions and local natural environments. Combined with inspection results, it analyzes how coating formulation ratio, construction procedures, paving techniques and maintenance regimes affect the reflective performance of road markings. Targeted optimizations will be implemented for the coating formulation system and on-site construction technologies, so as to effectively improve the retroreflective performance and service life of markings at highway interchanges, and ensure safe and standardized road traffic operation.
